Vishwakarma Jayanti - The Birthday of the architect!!!
Vishwakarma Jayanti is celebrated to mark the birth of Lord Vishwakarma, the architect. In the Rig Veda, He is known as the creator of the world, the science of mechanics and architecture. As per legend, he built the holy city of Dwarka, where Lord Krishna ruled and also the Maya Sabha of the Pandavas.
Vishwakarma Jayanti falls on the last day of the Bhadra which is also known as Bhadra Sankrant or Kanya Sankrant. On the day of Vishwakarma Jayanti also known as Vishwakarma Puja.Vishwakarma puja is also celebrated a day after Diwali, along with Govardhan Puja in October-November.
Vishwakarma is the designer of all the flying chariots of the gods, and all their weapons and divine attributes.Vishwakarma credited with creating the missiles used in the mythological era, including the Vajra, the sacred weapon of Lord Indra, from the bones of sage Dadhichi.The Vishwakarma community refer to themselves as the Viswabrahmin, and are sometimes described as an Indian caste. The community comprises five sub-groups carpenters, blacksmiths, bell metalworkers, goldsmiths and stonemasons who believe that they are descendants of Vishvakarman, a Hindu deity.
