Royal Standard singer and Hindi actor Dhanveer Singh is not afraid of being stereotyped
These films were meant for the OTT right from the beginning. But OTT has a huge and wide reach now. As an actor your job is to justify the character. Where the film will release is secondary and not my concern.You are a singer. How did you get into acting Yes I am a singer, but I was always into theatre when I was studying in Patiala when we would sing folk songs. Then I also became an RJ but after a gap of few years I decided I will be an actor for sure. Back then I was also doing the play Mughal e Azam, directed by Feroz Abbas Khan. As an actor you do get time to make music too.Mostly Punjabi singers act in Punjabi films because they have a fan following in their region and becomes easier to make a base. Also you need clarity of Hindi diction to act in non-Punjabi cinema or ventures. I have a Masters degree in Urdu so my diction is clear, thankfully, which is why I was able to easily transition onto Hindi entertainment.I started singing in college but I didnt go professional very hurriedly. Two of my songs have released so fa, while I am writing and singing more songs. The genre which appeals most to me and I feel suits my voice best, is romantic and sad.Stereotyping happens even now in entertainment industry. But if you are able to justify both negative and positive, the audiences are convinced about you being versatile. By the grace of god I dont fear stereotyping because I have portrayed both shades and audiences have accepted me in both.
